| Play
golf at the Algarve - a golfer's dream becomes
reality! |
This Pousada offers the best of both worlds: It is
set in a peaceful countryside, away from the
crowded Algarve resorts, but a short, thirty
minutes drive brings you to the coast, Faro
Airport and the crowds at the many world famous
tourist resorts in this region.
The Pousada São Bras has 31 rooms and two suites.
It is air-conditioned and has a lift and is
accessible to the disabled. There is a swimming
pool in the gardens which is open during the
summer months - and also a tennis court. |
The Pousada makes an ideal resting place for those
wanting to stay at an Algarve destination far
away from the crowds. Enjoy the cuisine and the
wines, take a swim in the pool or just relax on
the terrace and enjoy the breathtaking scenery... |

The
lovely Pousada São Bras de Alportel |
Twenty kilometres to the southeast is the little
resort of Tavira. Situated at the mouth of the
river Gilao, its beautiful balconied houses
stretch along both banks of the river, which is
spanned by two elegant bridges - quite a contrast
to the modern concrete addition...
Although the town has a Moorish feel to it, most
of it was rebuilt after the 1755 earthquake,
giving it an elegance associated with that period. |

Tavira used to be a major centre of tuna fishing,
but a few years ago the catches declined and
today the industry has ceased.
Wander through the cobbled streets and discover
the Algarve as it used to be...
Twenty-five kms southwest of São Bras there is
the coastal resort of Vilamoura with its large
marina surrounded by shops and bars. This is the
place the locals promenade in the evening.
|
There is also a casino and some of the best golf
courses in the country are located at the resort.
East of Sao Bras, the town of Loule is a must
for shopaholics. Its big Saturday market is sure
to provide something for everyone. The town is
an important craft center specializing in
pottery, leather goods and copperware.
Take a walk round the town, looking at the
amazing number of individually decorated
chimneys, showing the artistic flair and
imagination of the people. |
And
don't forget one of the best golf courses! |
The Ocean Course, part of the Vale de Lobo
tourist resort, is located near the sea, thus
creating very pleasant game conditions. |
The Vale de Lobo golf course, which in 1987
hosted the Portugal Ladies Open (part of the WPG
European Tour), has matured since its
inauguration in 1966. Originally, the course had
18 holes, designed by Sir Henry Cotton. In 1972,
however, a loop of 9 holes was added to the
course.
Recent works have given it further new
dimensions - there are now two courses of 18
holes each - the Ocean Course and the Royal Golf
Course.
The 5,493 metre long Ocean Course was created by
joining the "green" and "orange"
courses. Its sandy fairways undulate alongside
pine, olive, and orange trees and eucalyptuses. |

One
of the most beautiful golf courses in the world! |
Vale de Lobo, which is the focal point of a
sophisticated tourism complex, is only 20
kilometres away from Faro International Airport
and also has a good-sized 245 metre practice
course, creating excellent training conditions. |
